Simply Wed was started in 2002 by Events professional Kirstie Warren. Her experience with the thrill and energy of events began in London while Kirstie was earning her BS in Fashion Merchandising. Through her university and London Fashion Week, Kirstie had the amazing opportunity to work backstage at fashion shows in one of the fashion capitals of the world.
After a short stint in the corporate fashion world, and the experience of planning her own wedding, Kirstie took a step back and decided to follow her heart into planning weddings and events, and Simply Wed was born!
While running Simply Wed in the early days, Kirstie also acted as the Director of Events at the contemporary art museum BAM. From 2002-2003 she produced everything from corporate seminars and private social events, to the Bellevue Arts and Crafts Fair, exhibition opening celebrations and annual fundraising galas. In 2004 Kirstie directed over 25 gala and filmmaker events for the Seattle International Film Festival during a three-month contract as the Events Manager. Keeping up with the various styles of events has ensured that Kirstie maintains one of the most talented and reliable groups of vendors around.
Kirstie is a Charter Member of the Wedding Network USA (WNUSA), a networking organization focused on industry businesses. She is also the first planner in Washington state awarded with the certification of Accredited Bridal Consultant in the Association of Bridal Consultants (ABC), where she also serves on the board. She has been featured in publications such as Seattle Bride, Seattle Metropolitan Bride & Groom and The Knot Seattle as well as on popular wedding blogs Style Me Pretty, Elizabeth Ann Designs and Borrowed & Blue. She has won several industry awards, including a 2010 ISES Emerald City Applause Award for “Best Wedding – Budget Under $25K,” and the 2008 “Best Wedding Planner” in the Evening Magazine Best of Western Washington contest.
In 2012 Shauna Martin joined the Simply Wed team as an Associate Planner. Shauna began her dream of planning weddings with her own wedding in 2011, and saw the benefit first-hand of how helpful it was to have a wedding day coordinator. Since that moment she knew she wanted to do the same for brides on their special days! After intensive training for 9 months under founder Kirstie Warren at the same time as planning weddings under her own name, she decided to team up with Simply Wed. Shauna also works part-time for the Princess Bride Couture Bridal Salon in Bothell, offering her a unique perspective on the “bridal beauty” side of things!
