seattle wedding {Meghan & JJ} Chic Urban Affair

The wedding of Meghan and JJ took place on a summer day in August of 2013 and brought color and joy to all those who attended with their awesome friendly personalities and wonderful love story.Theriault_Salvador_Love_Song_Photo_014820130823MeghanJJWedding7418_low

Meghan and JJ exchanged their vows at a unique and funky urban venue, the Georgetown Ballroom. Located in Seattle’s vibrant Georgetown neighborhood, the space combines contemporary amenities with vintage charm. The exposed brick, high ceilings, and eclectic artifacts make the Georgetown Ballroom a truly one-of-a-kind venue.  Cocktail hour on the patio out back featured the musical stylings (and vintage charm!) of ukelele player Casey MacGill.  How adorable are the shiny ukelele and white tuxedo on Casey?  He is always a crowd charmer!

To add to the urban experience, food was served from a vintage Airstream trailer from Skillet Street Food Catering.  Dinner that included fried corn on the cob & chicken, grilled watermelon salad and Big Boy biscuits was served family-style at the tables inside, creating an atmosphere of casual elegance.  Kirstie Warren of Simply Wed created a custom, one-of-a-kind freestyle chalkboard menu (something that Simply Wed has become to get known for!) to showcase the awesome array of food being served.

The black and white chevron pattern was incorporated in the reception tables, the bouquets, and the dessert buffet, being a main design element of the day.  Mercury glass, a rainbow of garden flowers, chalkboard table numbers and signs, stacks of colorful vintage books and other knick knacks from the bride’s home created an awesome yet unique look that blended perfectly into the awesome colors and decorative elements existing at Georgetown Ballroom already.  The flowers really added a pop with the bright colors and festive blooms!

After dinner, guests indulged in a delectable dessert buffet. Treats included gummy bears, rock candy, cake pops, and the wedding cake with a “We Do” cake topper. Seriously, how cute is that cake topper?!  The bride’s collection of vintage candy tins and mercury glass findings set off the awesome display.

Congratulations Meghan and JJ! Simply Wed loved coordinating your chic urban affair!

Seattle Wedding {Lauren & Jeff} Winter Elegance

Lauren and Jeff shared their vows in December at the art-filled urban haven, the Alexis Hotel. Having a winter wedding in Seattle means the majority of the day might be spent inside, so having a boutique hotel like the Alexis makes for a great indoor venue. This particular hotel has a library bistro, chandeliers, original artwork, and classic suites complete with brick walls and wood burning fireplaces. Talk about photo opportunities!

How did you use the time of year in the design of the wedding?

* We wanted to incorporate winter without a Christmas vibe. We kept the colors to frosty, soft greens, silver and white with an accent of navy blue.  Bleached manzanita branches with crystal and candlelight created a twinkly, winter-snow effect throughout the ceremony and reception, and touches like natural pinecones white winter berries, and native salal kept it from going too glam.

* We created a wedding altar by using large manzanita trees potted in gorgeous sandstone urns, wrapped in lights & crystal strands and filled with hanging candles. We wanted the winter wonderland effect without using the traditional evergreen tree.

* As mentioned earlier, having the wedding primarily indoors, we used all aspects of the hotel – the bistro, bar, lobby, suites, and banquet room – to get all the perfect wedding photos. We directed the guests to the bistro for the cocktail hour to flip the room from ceremony to reception.

The decor was set off by the gorgeous calligraphy done by the Bride’s mother – what a special touch to make the day just perfect for Lauren & Jeff.  Congratulations to you both – we were so happy to coordinate your special day!!  See more of the lovely wedding details below…

Seattle Wedding {Jessica & Eric} Urban Rooftop Nuptials

Eric + Jessica-1

Jessica and Eric said their “I Do’s” atop Bell Harbor Conference Center’s Rooftop.  After the gorgeous outdoor ceremony on the Seattle Harbor, guests were directed into downtown Seattle to the Palace Ballroom for the reception.  Jessica and Eric are a super-fun couple that wanted their wedding day to be easy and relaxed, and that is where Simply Wed came in. We helped ease the flow from one location to the other, and took the stress of all those little details away from the couple and their families so that they could let loose and have a blast at their own wedding!

What were the key design elements?

* Keeping things simple yet elegant

* The rooftop at Bell Harbor needed little decoration because of that stunning view. We had a white aisle runner and two large floral arrangements at the alter with smaller floral bunches tied to the chairs. That was all we needed!

The Palace Ballroom has a great ambiance, but can be very dark. We wanted to keep things light by using lighter colored linens, ivory pillows for the soft seating, and lots of candlelight on the tables, as well as around the room on the window sills

* The Bride loved the mercury glass votives, so we incorporated gold and silver elements to go with the mercury glass, such as gold chiavari chairs, gold chargers, and silver urns for the stunning floral centerpieces

* We wanted to the focal point to be on the gorgeous florals. We used soft whites, peaches, and light pinks in the bouquets and centerpieces.  Check out this delicious bouquet we created for her – to die for!
